Louis Rogers' Condo on the Laguna Madre
Two bedroom, two bath Condo on north Padre Island. Not a high rise type. Our condo is a corner penthouse of a two story building with one adjacent neighbor. View the Laguna Madre, back of Snoopy's, Kennedy Causeway and the Packery Channel from the living room and decks. Keep your boat in the water at the dock out back (within 20 feet) or just enjoy the coastal environment. Central parking area to store your boat trailer on site. Good fishing under the lights along the bulkhead during the winter. Handy fish cleaning station at the waters edge. Large pool shared by the residents of Puente Vista. Clean and well maintained Washers and Dryers (coin) in the central recreation/party area.
In December of '06 we redid the flooring with a
laminated wood in the living and dining area's, as well as increasing the size of
the opening between the kitchen and living/dining areas to make that more
pleasant to communicate through. I put all new kitchen cabinetry, counter tops,
sink, dishwasher and disposal in, upgraded all of the cooking utensils and
plates, and put in a new vanity in the master. Additionally the main deck
off of the living room and sliding glass doors were redone.
Organized activities for winter Texans throughout the winter months. Relax in
the evening in one of the two recliner chairs or sofa in the living room and
watch the game on cable TV in living and master. The kitchen has a newer
refrigerator and stove, dishwasher and all utensils (includes baking). The
dining area with table and chairs seats four easy. Big soft King-size bed and cable TV in
the master bedroom that looks out to the bay and a Queen-size bed in the front
bedroom. Hide-away sofa bed in the living room. Bedrooms have a walkout deck area with
sliding glass door access. Bed linens and bath towels included. Fisherman's
dream - Family vacation - Windsurfer's - Beach goer's - Golfer's - Retiree's.
Drive to the beach at Padre Balli Park
and Bob Hall Fishing Pier (see also Mustang
Island State Park) in 5 minutes south via South Padre Island Dr (SPID)
or Corpus Christi in 10
minutes (very convenient location) north via SPID. Port Aransas is a 30 minute drive north
through the island via 361. The Padre
Island National Seashore is about a 20 minute drive
south via P22 on Padre Island. Golf club/Padre Isles Country Club is within a
couple miles. Wind surfing is a very popular sport in the Laguna Madre
area (Worldwinds WindSurfing),
especially during the windy months of spring. Also see the Corpus
Christi Windsurfing club. Let's not forget the surfing opportunities
too, as seen in these pictures
taken from Bob Hall Pier. This area is going to become a much more
popular location for sailors
with the newly opened gulf access. Bird
watching is also a popular way to spend time in the Laguna
Madre area.
If you are a fisherman and are used to having to putt through the channels before getting up on plane to run to your fishing hole - This isn't like that. You access run-able water in a minute from the time you crank up in the morning at the boat dock behind the condo. Bait is available under the Causeway at several locations, my old favorite is Clem's, and since the Packery Channel has opened to the gulf, there is a bunch of bait fish just waiting for your cast net in the nooks and bends.
UPDATE: The Packery Channel
provides a pass to the Gulf of Mexico between the newly constructed jetties.
Boat access to the Gulf of Mexico for fishing or pleasure boating. Our
condo is just about as close as you can be to the Packery Channel. Just
head straight north under the small bridge or for larger boats, head out via the
intracoastal passage way under the South Padre Island Dr (see
the maps below). We are as close as any launch and usually no
more than a 10 minute boat ride from the Gulf!
Normal Rate: April-September .. $165/night .. $999/week
Holiday Rate: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day .. $180/night
Fall rate: October-December .. $145/night .. $890/week
**Always a 3 night minimum**
Winter rate: January-March(1 month, 1 day minimum).. $1500/month
All fees are paid in full 30 days in advance.
